On Sunday, I was watching the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square's broadcast for Independence Day 2018. It was filmed starting at dusk, and as the choir started to sing, the lights on their faces reminded me of a magic I'd almost forgotten about.
Growing up, I spent a lot of summer nights at pageants put on by my church. The Hill Cumorah Pageant (which reenacts some of the most important stories from the Book of Mormon) in Palmyra, New York, always took place during my birthday, so I'd beg to go every year. When I was older, my family lived near Nauvoo, Illinois, and every summer, there would be a pageant about the early settlers of the city. Whatever the exact show, there was something magical about watching the performers on the stage in the open air on a warm summer night.
So that's what I want you to think about this weekend. How can you bring a little magic into your readers' lives through your story?
Write on,
Candice
